ADGA Genetics

Herb is an exciting outcross to our herd that brings in some great milky genetics both from Oznayim Gail and from his sire by AI, Butterfield Acres Stacy's Gold.  His dam Gail does actually tie in SG 7*M Musk*Rose SS Lucille genetics that are behind Aylie, Naomi, and Maggie.  I am happy to be retaining a buckling and 2 doelings from him this year.

Silly Herb was in full-blown rut during his first LA session so was very difficult to assess.  We look forward to a future linear appraisal when his hormones aren’t driving his body crazy!  It looks like we may miss the 2017 LA session due to a scheduling conflict - if it won't work out this year, 2018 for sure!

Opal Humbyrd, of the Apple Valley herd whose genetics we are bringing in more strongly with our other herd sire, Mitch, says of Butterfield Acres Stacy’s Gold:

“But Gold was a big very dairy buck. He threw lovely milky udders with extended fores. But you have to remember that was when foreudders were being emphasized. The rears were not low but not high and tight. But if they were so high and tight it would have been uncomfortable for the does because of the milk. You will find Butterfield Acres in the pedigrees of many east coast herds that wanted show and milk. You did breed them for yearling milkers. But it took till second freshening till milk production was seen. A friend of mine had one of his daughters. That doe was a beautiful golden brown the same color as him. That is how he got his name.“
